Coral_ations

is an on-going series of hand-built ceramic modules that are (interchangeably) table and wall sculptures. These are physical research-experiments into the parallels of our built environment and the architecture of corals. The minerals are the same - the construction for the same purpose..- to protect our soft bodies..
The artist's making of these 3D drawings of corals, attempts to imitate their 4 dimensional shapes (interior and exterior on the same plane, like a möbian strip) while correlating the form with modular product design.
The glazes further 'humanize' and mechanize the naturalised form - hopefully opening up a conversation about the function of the human..
