The installation at PALLAS P?S in November 2021 incorporated ‘studies’ of hybrid mineral bodies as small organic architectures in a rogue hydroponics. This project draws visual and physical correlations with other species’ modes of survival and proliferation.
‘Coral-ation ’ is extending my current explorations of mutation, adaptation, colonisation and power through a new sculptural syntax. I will be developing these towards a solo exhibition at the LAB Gallery consisting of new installations. I will also be working in these ideas with Corban Walker towards a 2 our person show at the Dock in 2023. This will take the form of mentor/mentee.
I am hand-building ceramic pieces as a means to investigate, research and experiment with the correlation between human and animal constructions made from various earth minerals. These clay ‘components’ they will develop an ‘interrupter’ aspect that engages with the capacities of the clay body to buffer, insulate, interrupt, contain and sluice. They will be used as multi-modular parts for installations.
